Galaxy reports on West Kundip manganese prospect
by Gill Montia

Galaxy Resources, the Western Australian mineral exploration company, has announced the results of an initial review and site evaluation of manganese mineralisation at its West Kundip prospect.
The site is located between the Archaean Ravensthorpe Greenstone Belt and Proterozoic Mt Barren Group, which is about eight kilometres south of Ravensthorpe, Western Australia.
The company has reported that a review of historical exploration data on West Kundip highlights the potential for high grade manganese mineralisation.
Previous rock chip sample of manganese mineralisation returns value of 38% Mn, 3.22% Fe, 2.801% Si, 0.03% P and 2.00% Al.
Previous drilling targeted at dolomite to test acid neutralising value intersected up to 12.9% Mn over a metre within manganese rich dolomite that requires further drill testing.
An initial field inspection has been completed including rock chip sampling of massive manganese (psilomelane) outcrops.
Future exploration will utilise EM as a means of identifying zones of manganese mineralisation within the dolomite/quartzite sequence.
According to Galaxy, the prospect has the potential to introduce an additional commodity to its portfolio of targets at Ravensthorpe.
