Andean Resources hires VP operations
by Jo Black

Andean Resources Ltd has hired Mr. Stabro Kasaneva as Vice President of Operations.
Mr. Kasaneva is currently General Manager of the El Penon mine in Chile. The El Penon mine is a world-class gold and silver low-sulfidation epithermal deposit discovered and developed by Meridian Gold in the Atacama Desert of Chile, and now owned by Yamana Gold Inc. of Canada. El Penon has produced up to 330,000 ounces of gold per year with cash costs of less than $50 per ounce over the last 8 years.
Andean’s Cerro Negro property is rapidly developing into a world-class gold and silver low sulfidation deposit. Stabro spent most of the last 10 years working for Meridian Gold at El Penon, starting as an underground mine geologist during initial construction, and then being promoted to Exploration Manager, when the Dorada, Fortuna and Al Este discoveries were made. In 2006, Stabro was hired as the General Manager of El Penon. During his tenure at El Penon, he was instrumental in the implementation of Six Sigma and when combined with several other productivity improvements, underground production improved 30% to above 3000 tonnes per day.
Mr. Kasaneva holds a bachelors of Science in Geology from Catolica del Norte University of Antofagasta, Chile.
