Western Areas announces record nickel intersection at Forrestania
by Gill Montia

Australian miner, Western Areas, has announced the discovery of a record nickel intersection at the Forrestania Nickel Project.
According to the press release, drill hole WBD 064 at Spotted Quoll intersected 17.3m at an estimated average grade of 9.8% nickel and 0.5% copper from 231.4m depth.
The estimated grade of the intersection is based on 208 separate readings using a Niton portable XRF analyser, and formal assay results are required to confirm the nickel and copper grades.
The massive sulphide seen in the drill core is significant the following reasons:
• it contains widespread visible pentlandite (nickel sulphide),
• there are no barren zones or inclusions of waste rock
• it highlights the strength of the mineralised system at Spotted Quoll
The company has also reported assay results for WBD 056, one of the shallowest drill holes to date at Spotted Quoll.
The drill hole intersected 10.3m @ 10.6% nickel from 43.8m, highlighting the excellent potential that exists for shallow high grade mineralisation at Spotted Quoll.
Further drilling will be required to test from surface to 30m depth in this area.
