by Elaine Frei

Most metals prices were lower Friday, with the silver the exception among precious metals and tin the gainer among base metals.
March silver added 9 cents to $18.04 per troy ounce in New York, while three-month tin gained $170 to close at $17,570 per tonne in London after going as high as $17,600 per tonne earlier in the session.
Otherwise among precious metals, April gold was down $1.40 to $947.80 per troy ounce on decreased inflation worries.
Some analysts are still predicting, however, that gold will rise to $1,000 per troy ounce this year.
April platinum fell from record highs, declining by $20.40 $2,167.80 per troy ounce in New York.
Among base metals, May copper was down 2 cents to $3.80 per pound in New York and three-month copper in London dropped $80 to $8,350 per tonne after inventories in both London and Shanghai were reported to be sharply higher.
Meanwhile, three-month aluminium fell $26 to $2,920 per tonne, zinc was down $40 to $2,500 per tonne, lead was $136 lower to $3,260 per tonne, and nickel dropped $850 to $28,400 per tonne.
