First Narrows updates on Sonora
by Jo Black

First Narrows Resources Corp. provides an update on its exploration activities in the north-western state of Sonora, Mexico.
Over the past 15 months, since announcing that its wholly owned subsidiary, Minera FNR de Mexico, S.A. de C.V., (FNR), acquired the rights to the past-producing Susana D’Oro copper-gold property, the Company has conducted a comprehensive prospecting and claim staking program that radiates from the original 175-hectare (433 acres) Susana property. As a result, the Company amassed a claim position in an area east of the city of Hermosillo that totals 106,314 hectares or 262,708 acres covering several new mineral discoveries and on-trend targets.
Geologically, the Property lies within the convergence of the western part of the northerly trending copper-molybdenum porphyry and gold mineral belts of Mexico. The Company’s exploration results to date suggest that three distinct modes of mineralization occur on the Property. In terms of the drill program that the Company is planning for the Property, it is most significant that none of the primary targets have previously been drilled.
The Company’s project database is constantly updated and new ore deposit models for the area have evolved. The presence of iron-oxide (Fe-Oxide) minerals (hematite and magnetite) in association with base metal and precious metal mineralization has been noted within the region as a whole. Rusty color anomalies in the soil profile, developed from the weathering of the Fe-Oxides, have also been observed over known mineral occurrences. By the spring of 2007, it was apparent that the original Susana D’Oro veins were the initial local clues to more expansive mineralizing events taking place on a regional scale.
