Prices for precious metals were higher on Thursday.
With the US dollar down again in currencies trade, August gold was up $4.40 in New York to $678.10 per troy ounce, its highest close in just over two months.
Silver was also higher, adding 9 cents to $13.38 per troy ounce for a gain of 0.6 percent on the day and 3.4 percent so far this year.
October platinum was trading at $1.30 higher to $1,338.50 per troy ounce just before noon.
