Metals prices were higher on Thursday. Among base metals, copper and nickel were both gained in London. Copper added 2 percent to $7,315 per tonne after London Metal Exchange inventories dropped by 800 tonnes. Nickel, meanwhile, was 4.6 percent higher to trade at $41,850 per tonne.
In early afternoon trade in New York, meanwhile, August gold was $3.20 higher to $655.90 per troy ounce. July silver added 11 cents to $13.17 per troy ounce, while July platinum was up $3.50 to trade at $1,287.
