Metals prices were mostly down on Friday. In precious metals, gold was down 5 percent over the week to $648 per troy ounce after having been as low as $645 per troy ounce in morning trade. Silver also declined, by 10.7 percent during the week to $12.98 per troy ounce.

Prices for precious metals were mixed on Thursday. In mid-morning trade on the COMEX component of the New York Mercantile Exchange gold had added $1 to $673.50 per troy ounce on April contracts after trading in a range between $668.30 to $680.20 per troy ounce. Meanwhile, spot gold was at $668.70/$669.45.
