gold, platinum up slightly; silver holds steady

gold, platinum up slightly; silver holds steady

Precious metals were mostly up on Monday. Gold, considered a safe investment in times of upheaval, was trading at $569.50 per troy ounce, while platinum was up slightly to $1,076 per troy ounce. Silver was nearly unchanged at $9.72 per troy ounce.
