The price of gold had moved very little from its overnight close to trade at $422.30/$423.05 per troy ounce in New York by mid-afternoon on Thursday.
Even with little movement, analysts think that the current price rally has not run its course.
On the London Metal Exchange, meanwhile, copper rose $2.5 to $3,240.5 per tonne.
